Soooo...it's the first post on my new blog. Not quite sure what I'm going to do here, so you'll find out when I do. This should be fun...
So, anyway, I'll start by telling that at least half of my posts will involve Skillet in some way, shape, or form. (Note the 'at least'. It will probably be much more then half.) A lot will also mention Narnia. And fashion. Also, I'm a Christian, so things will be God-centered. Don't like, either A) Get over it, or B) Don't read my blog. It's as simple as that.
If you were wondering where the name came from, it's from a verse in Matthew that touched me a few months ago. I wrote this a little while afterwards:
Matthew 10:29-31
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
Okay...I'm just reading my Bible and for some reason this pops into my head. (I was reading Psalms, actually, so I don't know exactly why a verse in Matthew occured to me...)
Anyway, I was thinking on how little sense verse 29 makes. How can a bird fall? It can't...it has wings. God created it so that it couldn't fall. So why say something like that? Not to mention, what about US? We can fall (literally AND metaphorically), and a lot of times it feels like God doesn't catch us. Why not? Why not create us with some sort of fool-proof system so that WE can't fall?
Then it hit me...,'So don't be afraid;'. He didn't give us something like that because we're supposed to trust Him to catch us. He doesn't want us to do this on our own, He wants us to turn to Him. He wants to be the one that we know we can always trust, always talk to, run to, and be with when things are getting rough. HE can be our fool-proof system, but only if we have faith.
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."
Having faith means knowing that He can save us, even when everything is crashing down around us. It's believing that He'll always save us in time.
So maybe He did give us wings after all...
So, that's it for this post. Later!
